"Of Exceptions and Miracles" was a project commissioned by Museo Jumex in Mexico City for the exhibition Actions at a Distance, curated by Kit Hammonds and Marielsa Castro. The piece presents oil paintings of micro-stories told by the inhabitants of the Granada neighborhood, where Museo Jumex is located. The paintings were exchanged for extraordinary stories or miracles told by museum neighbors who have resisted the area's gentrification process. The action was accompanied by the local hip-hop band Afromega + Ese o*, who performed these stories in the museum's square. The stories were told by Antonio, Cecilia, Francisco, Gabriel, Jazmin, Jose Antonio, Juana, Magdalena, Manuel, Martin, Miroslava, and Trini. Photo and Video: JUMEX Museum.
